The Tarragona Water Consortium (CAT) is an entity with its own nonprofit legal personality that captures, processes and distributes drinking water to local councils and consortiums.

The activity is regulated by Law 18/81, which grants an administrative authorization to the CAT to use a maximum of 4 m3 / s of water from the channels on the left and right banks of the Ebro river. Once caught by the channels, CAT submits water to a potabilization process, controls quality and finally distributes it to consortiums, taking into account criteria of efficiency, sustainability and social responsibility. The priority is the guarantee of supply: make sure that consortiums are a safe and quality resource, adjusted to the cost and appropriate to the principles of the Water Framework Directive, preserving the Environment and promoting the return to the territory.
"
The CAT has been an engine of development since its creation
Since its constitution in 1985, CAT has promoted the development of Terres de l'Ebre and Camp de Tarragona. The availability of water has allowed us to take advantage of new opportunities for progress and improve the quality of life from one point to another in the network. The own compensation fees for the use of water have made it possible to modernize the channels and underpin the productive model and the sustainable lifestyle in the Ebro delta.
Program:

On the occasion of the 30 years of service of CONSORCI D'AIGÜES DE TARRAGONA a technical visit is organized at the Potable de l'Ampolla Treatment Station. You will explain all the effort behind the tap, the part of the water you do not see. You will know where the one that comes to your home comes out, how we control quality and how we treat it to make it clean. And if you have thirst, you can drink as much as you want! Every day an average of 200 million liters is spent on the facilities.

The itinerary of the visit will be the following:

11:00 am Visit to the water purification plant of the Tarragona Water Consortium, L'Ampolla
