Since the eighties, the water problem is in development agendas. In spite of that, today in the world 1100 million people do not have access to potable water and 2400 million do not have sanitation systems, which causes 80% of illnesses and the death of 5,000 children every day. Although the United Nations recognizes the human right to water as an indispensable factor in living dignity and as a precondition for the realization of other rights, and while governments have pledged to reduce the lack of access to Water and sanitation with the Millennium Development Goals, there are currently not only significant progress, but the problem is compounded by the process of commercialization of water.
