PALACE OF THE CATALAN MUSIC . Built between 1905 and 1908 by the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner as the headquarters of the Orfeó Català and built with funds from popular subscription, the Palau de la Música Catalana constitutes a symbolic and sentimental heritage of a whole town that is identified with its history.
Its concert hall - one of the most singular in the world - has been the privileged stage for the concerts, national and international life of the city of Barcelona for a hundred years. An architectural pearl of Catalan Modernism that has become, with the passage of decades, an inescapable meeting point for the cultural and social life of Catalonia and that is, at present, the only modernist concert hall of UNESCO World Heritage Site ( December 4, 1997).
In the last decades, the Palau de la Música Catalana has been the renovation and consolidation of the Orfeó Català , the creation of the Chamber Choir of the Palau de la Música Catalana (1990) and the Coral School of the Orfeó Català (1999 ), and the remodeling and extension of the modernist building by the architect Oscar Tusquets with the auditorium of the Petit Palau and the new Plaça del Pala
The Palau de la Música Catalana, an emblematic framework for national culture at the beginning of the 20th century, Roman, nowadays, lively and dynamic, as cultural equipment open to the world, stage of concerts of all genres and styles, cultural and social events and business, congresses, conferences, exhibitions, etc. A benchmark for the artistic and citizen dynamism of Barcelona.
ALABAMA GOSPEL CHOIR is made up of 30 artists who manage to capture the history of the Gospel on a unique journey through the roots of this music which combines the most visceral part with the most spiritual essence. It is an exclusive vocal group of Alabama that has as a member the figure of Francine Murphy, nominated for GRAMMY.
