SYNTHESIS AND OPTIMIZATION OF ENERGY PRODUCTION SYSTEMS

The basic synthesis and optimization tools will be presented to model discrete decisions (selection of equipment, design alternatives, etc.) and continuous (process variables such as raw material consumptions, temperatures, etc.) and their application to energy production systems: electricity production plants, cogeneration plants, heat exchange networks, etc. The aim of the seminar is to provide a panorama of discreet and continuous optimization techniques, as well as its application in energy and process systems
Strategies will be presented for:
1. The synthesis and preliminary design of energy production and distribution plants
2. The optimization of the operating conditions of an energy production plant
