May 5, 2007 . The College of Technical Engineers of Tarragona (CETIT) held last Saturday, May 5, a new edition of the traditional brotherhood festival with the assistance of nearly 500 people. The event was attended by the Government Delegate in Tarragona of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Xavier Sabaté, the Director of Territorial Services of the Department of Economics and Finance of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Jordi Jacas, more representatives of colleges of Catalonia and the rest of the State.
During the dinner that took place at the La Boella restaurant, there were various emotional events, such as the tribute to 29 industrial engineering engineers who are 25 years old. Other events highlighted were the tribute to the two first colleagues of CETIT, Mari Paz Gràcia Ferrer and Maria Dolors Dias Fortuny, both with a broad professional background.
On the other hand, this important meeting was the framework for the concession of the awards of the "Lluís Roca i Garcia" Final Project Award. The 13th edition fell to the GPS-RASANT data monitoring Environment project by José Manuel Díaz Navarro, student of the ETSE EEEiA Department of the Rovira i Virgili University. The objective of this project was to develop a program to visualize, in real time using a RASANT GPS device, positioning data for canine units, in this case the Association of Civil Protection Volunteers of Tarragona. This work is part of a larger one that aims to improve the research tasks these volunteers can do with their specialty dogs.
The event was for Xavier Urgell Calaf also a student at the ETSE EEEiA Department of the Rovira i Virgili University, with the project entitled Scorn Environment of the flexible cell manufacturing and storage system. The winner of the first prize in industrial technical photography, promoted by CETIT, was also made public, and it was the responsibility of Enric Mariano Sabé.
As every year, the school also showed its solidarity working with the NGO Ingenieros sin Fronteras that develop activities and infrastructures for the benefit of the population with the least resources. The aid was aimed at improving the basic infrastructures of some neighborhoods of Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon.
In the final part of this ceremony, the CETIT Dean, Santiago Crivillé, thanked the authorities and all the guests at the same time expressly congratulating the honored technical engineers and engineers, plus the winners. For his part, the Delegate of the Government of the Generalitat addressed to the presents in words of praise for the group and emphasized the role of this profession in the service of modern society and of progress.
