Integrated environmental inspection program for Catalonia

The new Integrated Environmental Inspection Program of Catalonia for the year 2022 foresees to inspect 714 establishments classified in four groups of activities:

• 257 industrial / energy activities, such as combined cycles for the production of electricity, oil refineries, cement manufacturing, stained glass, basic chemical industry, foundries, textile industry or agri-food industry.
• 87 waste management activities.
• 27 controlled landfills.
• 343 large livestock farms for raising laying hens, fattening pigs and breeding sows.

The criteria for selecting these establishments are based on a risk assessment.

This year the Program will again reduce the risk category assessed for those establishments registered in the EMAS system that in recent inspections have shown satisfactory compliance. This reduction in the risk category leads to a reduction in the frequency of inspections.

Transparent environmental information

Non-scheduled inspections will also be carried out to verify the cessation of activities, to investigate complaints, accidents and incidents or to verify the correctness of non-compliances declared in previous “scheduled” inspections.
