Although the pandemic is expressly excluded from the coverage of the Mupiti Professional insurance in accordance with the provisions of its own Regulations, the Board of Directors of the Mutual Society considered it essential to incorporate it. And so it has been applied, with effect from April 1, 2020, and has been extended until now, meeting and adapting coverage to the guidelines set out in the Protocol on Action against the New Coronavirus (SARS-VOC -2) from the Ministry of Health at all times.
More than two years have passed since the declaration of the state of alarm, the COVID-19 continues to accompany us. However, the consequences of its evolution are minor and more effective means are available to combat it.
In this sense, the Ministry of Health has launched the “Influenza” Strategy for COVID-19 and, last March, the Public Health Commission approved the new Surveillance and Control Strategy before COVID - 19, after the acute phase of the pandemic.
The new strategy incorporates, among other measures, the elimination of the obligation to isolate oneself for seven days from all the positives with the corresponding sick leave; that is, mild and asymptomatic confirmed cases will not perform isolation, in the same way that close contacts will not have to quarantine.
For all this, assessing the different circumstances, and taking into account that these new measures are in force since March 28, the Board of Directors of Mupiti, at its extraordinary meeting held on April 6, 2022, has agreed end COVID-19 disease coverage, as of April 11, 2022.
Consequently, the temporary disability benefit will no longer be recognized for COVID-19 cases that have occurred since April 11, 2022, as long as the current epidemiological situation is maintained.
