Develop a system for throwing a tennis ball into a basket from different distances and heights. This was the purpose of this year's final competition for the Integrator Project I subject for first-year students of the Mechanical Engineering Degree at the URV.
The project is the result of a design process that began with the theoretical formalization of the problem and the generation of graphics with MATLAB with the results, the implementation of a set of parts using a parametric CAD tool, Autodesk Inventor, in order to be able to build the machine from the 3D design.
As a novelty, for the first time two preliminary sessions were held before the competition to test the designs. Over two days, the thirteen participating teams were able to test the operation of the machines, and measurements were made of ball exit angles and speeds using high-speed image and video analysis.
In this edition, the winning team was Metal Team after a tie-breaker with the Tittous, with whom they had previously tied with 88 points out of the 120 that could be obtained.
This competition, which took place on Friday 16 June in the afternoon at the Sescelades campus, is organized by the Higher Technical School of Chemical Engineering, with the prizes sponsored by the College of Industrial Technical Engineers of Tarragona. The secretary of the College, Núria Llosas, presented the prizes to the members of the winning team.
