The Asociación de Familiares de Alzheimer de Tarragona (AFAT) has been directed to our school to make us know about the difficult situation for which they are going through, without, until now, no help to finance your projects Faced with the undesirable, but also possible, closure of its doors, we turn to all of you to extend its call for solidarity.
The AFAT of Tarragona has been one of its worst moments since it was founded in 1998. As you should know, this company carries out different services aimed at Alzheimer's patients and their relatives or main caregivers, such as , among others, reception services, social assistance, individualized psychological care, Mutual Assistance Groups (GAM), voluntary service, information and consultations for students as well as professionals, that of Family Respiratory (cognitive stimulation for the sick and breathing for families) that attentive to 15 patients, and the information service regarding the Dependency Law among many other specific activities.
In order to carry out this enormous task, apart from the invaluable human resources, the Association has always had grants awarded by public and private entities, presenting projects to the corresponding calls that receive subsidies. Unfortunately, this year, there has not been any help in financing projects. Therefore, the association will have to close its doors if no positive resolution is received shortly.
We all trust that this end does not occur as it would imply a serious threat to our city and families that now enjoy some of these essential services will be affected. That is why we felt that, from our College, it was necessary to share with you the urgent need that we can all help to avoid with the objective of not eliminating one of the most active associations in Tarragona.
