Federico Gutiérrez-Solana, president of the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE), undertakes to transfer the demands of Industrial Technical Engineering to Spanish universities.
The president and secretary of the General Council of Industrial Technical Engineering (COGITI), José Antonio Galdón and Avelino García, respectively, met on 21 September with the president of the CRUE, Federico Gutiérrez-Solana, and the general secretary of this organization, María Teresa Lozano, to present the collective's demands regarding the obtaining of the bachelor's degree for Technical Engineers.
In this way, the president and secretary of the General Council gave him the document "Proposed COGITI in Universities", which includes a series of measures that they propose to universities to attend to the great demand (close to the 200,000 graduates) of those interested in approving their current title of Technical Engineer to the corresponding Degree in Engineering (demand that public universities can not meet 5% of the total), and the cornerstone is the recognition of credits (ETCS ) for the professional experience to program the "gateway" to access the Bachelor's degree in current Industrial Engineers.
For its part, the president of the CRUE, who already knew this problem, was very receptive to the proposals of COGITI, and committed to transfer his concerns to the rectors of Spanish universities, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Education In addition, he indicated that "neither from the universities nor from the Government this great demand of the Industrial Technical Engineers had been anticipated".
Gutiérrez-Solana acknowledged the importance that professional experience deserves, and appreciated the "principle of efficiency" considerably, explained by Galdón. The president of COGITI firmly defends the principle of efficiency that must reign in our society and especially in the times, and I bet that this additional training, which must be done in order to obtain a bachelor's degree, will in most cases not be useful for the work that is being developed in Nowadays, and nevertheless it should devote such economic and time-consuming efforts to a master's or training courses that result in a direct way in its professional activity or serve to refocus its work life, which will contribute especially in the productivity and development of our companies.
