The work includes the series of conferences, the awards ceremony of this institution and an extensive photographic report of the events held between March 10 and 12, 2005.
This new book joins the Foundation's bibliographic collection, which has other publications on security attributes, legislation and methodology, among other topics of interest to our professional group.
The organization of the acts was carried out by the Board of Trustees of the Foundation with the collaboration of the College of Technical Industrial Engineers of Tarragona. The Provincial Council and the Tarragona City Council also cooperated. The pronounced conferences as well as the awards and scholarships corresponding to the 2004 call were held in the auditorium of the former Hearing.
The papers analyzed several topics. The first of them, pronounced by Gonzalo Casino, journalist and director of the Industrial Technical Magazine, presented the evolution of the magazine that he directed and emphasized the consolidation of this means of communication in society. In the second conference, titled "The engineers in Europe and our future", the president of the General Council of experts and Technical Industrial Engineers, of the Foundation, and Dean of the COITI of Badajoz, Manuel León, presented the great issues that it poses the educational reform of higher education in our country and the adaptation to the European framework. The Doctor of Information Sciences from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Tomás Garcia, was the author of the third conference entitled "The company in today's complex societies" was about the commitment of the business world and society with the clear objective of improving the quality of life.
The fourth conference was articulated by Joaquín Ruiz de Arbulo, Doctor and Professor of Classical Archeology at the University of Lleida. Under the title "Tarragona. Living in a Roman city", the speaker showed an excellent exhibition with images and graphics of the ancient Roman capital of "Hispania Citerior", later also called Tarraconense.
The subject of the fifth conference was the world of communication. The professor of Theory of Communication of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Miquel Rodrigo, answered the question his parliament called: "How to achieve effective intercultural communication?", Especially among those who share the same cultural references.
Finally, the sixth paper was given by Federico García, Professor of Contemporary Science at the Jaume I University of Castellón and the Prince of Asturias Prize for scientific and technical research. This conference was entitled: "the dissemination of technoscience in its social and human aspects".
These days also served to deliver the prizes corresponding to the 2004 call led by the "extraordinary prize of technological innovation" to Luís Ignacio Eguiluz. Two colleagues from the COITI in Jaén, Ángeles Medina and Blas Ogayar, received the "renewable energy" prize and Francisco Brocal achieved the "Extremadura prize, prevention of industrial risks in industrial facilities". Two awards were also given to the extraordinary prize, to Antonio Sartal and Gerardo Labernia, plus six awards to the best end of career projects.
During the various events, the President of the Technical Industrial Foundation, Manuel León Cuenca, took part; the Rector of the Rovira i Virgili University, Lluís Arola, who presided over the closing ceremony and the Dean of the College of Industrial Technical Engineers of Tarragona, Santiago Crivillé as host of some conferences that were held with more than optimal participation of professionals.
The book that includes all these conferences under the title "II Jornadas de Ingeneria y Sociedad.Tarragona, March-2005" was published in December 2005 and is available for consultation at the CETIT library.
