The table of energy poverty of Tarragona and Reus sets in motion in the two cities an energy advisory service, which has the support of a professional proposed by the College of Industrial Technical Engineers of the demarcation. The objective of this new service is to respond to the needs of citizens in this field.
In Tarragona
This is a specific service and intensity. Consists of the progressive implementation of comprehensive advice to users who are in a situation of energy poverty. These are derived from social services and third sector entities, to perform improvements in their supplies (water, natural gas and electricity) through the collaboration of the Smart Foundation and the CETIT. The initiative also has the support of the marketers that have put at the service of the City Council of Tarragona specific attention to the good development of the project.
The improvement actions, as an example, are the following steps:
- Marketer change.
- Modification of power contracted.
- Processing of the social good of electricity.
- Implementation / modification time discrimination.

From April 20 until now, the first attention was given to 39 people in the civic centers of Sant Salvador and Sant Pere and Sant Pau. The service runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. one day a week at each of the centers.
This project is also linked, when deemed appropriate, to a visit to conduct an energy audit at home to assess if small interventions can be made aimed at alleviating energy inefficiencies in the home.

In order to promote the responsible consumption of water and domestic energy and to reduce the costs incurred in this area, the creation of an Energy Assessment Point open to everyone has been promoted. Anyone wishing to request a prior appointment can consult with their invoice if they have the possibility to reduce their expenses by taking advantage of some type of bonus, improvement in the use of supplies, reduction of power, etc.
During the visit, the professional of the school of engineers, once studied the situation of the supplies of the person who makes the consultation, depending on the situation, will facilitate the recommendations that it deems appropriate for the improvement of the energy efficiency and the decrease of the cost: change of tariff, change of power, change of supplying company, or processing of Social Bo, among others.
It is a service open to all citizens. It is only necessary that the person who wants to use the service receive supplies of electricity, water or gas from a home located in this municipality. It is advisable to take a copy of the receipt or the invoice of the supply on which you want to ask the question.
The access to this service can be by own initiative, derivative by the professionals, derived to be beneficiary of Social Services grants by subject of supplies, or derived by other social entities: Caritas, Red Cross, San Vicente de Paul, etc. .

- Migjorn Civic Center: Monday from 9 to 11 hours.
- Ponent Civic Center: Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- Levante Civic Center: Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Tarragona Energy Board of Tarragona and Reus is a space for planning, coordination, interventions, analysis, debate, search for alternatives and proposals for solutions that guarantee access to the energy consumption of vulnerable families.
From this entity, Tarragona and Reus municipalities work together on the subject of energy poverty and have a close connection with the Generalitat's Government Board.
The last Plenary of this Board, meeting on July 4, agreed on the following lines of work, which are being carried out this year:
- Increase the advice and the information of the citizens.
- Propose a motion so that the social good adjusts more to the current reality of many families.
- Increase the coordination of the two city councils with the entities that are aware of this problem in order to be able to find joint solutions that benefit the citizens more.
Establish mechanisms to bring the proposals of the Board to the competent administrations.
From this entity, Tarragona and Reus municipalities work together on the subject of energy poverty and have a close connection with the Generalitat's Government Board.
