Enginyers Tarragona collaborates with the City Council of Valls in the Table of energy poverty, space for planning, coordination, interventions, analysis, debate, search for alternatives and proposals for solutions that guarantee access to the energy consumption of families with vulnerability From this entity, the municipalities work together on the subject of energy poverty and have a close connection with the Government Board of the Generalitat.
The City Council of Valls participated in the 2nd Catalan Congress on Energy Poverty by exposing the table Municipal strategies of energy support to the vulnerable user presenting the Project for the prevention and palliation of energy poverty that is taking place in Valls.
The Catalan Congress on Energy Poverty is a joint initiative promoted by various administrations, local and supramunicipal entities and social, environmental and civil society entities to create a common front that defends and guarantees the energy rights of citizens, the one that is in a situation of vulnerability and / or social exclusion. In this second edition, the Congress focuses on the causes that aggravate the problem and the current state of defense of energy rights at the local and European level.
The purpose is to have a meeting, reflection, debate and dialogue space between the many actors that influence the attention to energy poverty in Catalonia. Promote the knowledge and the expert debate on the most relevant aspects to advance in the search for effective, short and medium-term solutions. Promote a new governance framework that allows, thanks to the collaboration between the various agents, a better prevention and management of the energy and social vulnerability. And finally, sensitize the magnitude and gravity of energy poverty and the need to actively combat it.
