CETIT defends a multidisciplinary and competitive professional model in the face of the debate generated by the adaptation of the Spanish state to the European higher education area.
The College of Industrial Technical Engineers of Tarragona (CETIT) defends a multidisciplinary and competitive professional model in the face of the debate generated by the adaptation of the Spanish state to the European higher education area, regulated by the well-known Declaration of Bologna.
In this sense, this College expresses its absolute rejection of some teaching approaches, encouraged by other university disciplines, which are committed to the marginalization and even the disappearance of a profession very necessary for industry such as industrial technical engineer.
The model that supports our school is that of a four-year degree engineer with 240 credits, full of attributions. He is a well-trained professional who fits perfectly with the needs of small and medium-sized companies in Tarragona. Let us not forget that current officials of the Ministry of Education have repeatedly expressed a clear position that favors the training of technical engineers perfectly adapted to the European teaching structure.
Contrary to this clear education policy that is committed to maintaining our own university space, pressures have been detected by some postgraduate engineers, incorrectly called superiors, who with pretensions such as the extension of the years of studies among other forced aspects such as attributions, in the background what they seek is the disappearance of our discipline to appropriate, for their own benefit, the work of technical engineering, and especially the essential industrial branch.
This College of Technical Engineers of Tarragona, is absolutely in agreement with the manifesto of the General Council of Colleges of Industrial Technical Engineers of Spain as well as of the State Association of representatives of students of Industrial Technical Engineering , in the sense that it is necessary to defend a teaching model that ensures our presence in the professional market and, therefore, recognizes our contribution to labor competitiveness, vital for the industry of the province of Tarragona and of course the rest of the State.
Any position against it undoubtedly leads to mercantilist reasons, on the other hand very similar to some of those expressed in the debate, also open, on the future of the Humanities. These reasons are inconsistent with the dynamics and general interests of the country and do not respond to the technical or cultural needs of its citizens.
