The government is expanding aid to SMEs by 100 million for their internationalization

The Council of Ministers has today approved the extension and modification of the SME Financing Line for export and investment projects from the Fund for the Internationalization of Business (FIEM) in the framework of the economic crisis arising from the COVID-19. The modification of this line of financing is intended to facilitate access to financing for export and investment operations of Spanish SMEs, while providing more flexibility in conditions and agility in processing .

The changes included in the agreement approved today involve, in the first place, the extension of the amount of the line by 100M €, going from the current 50M € to 150M €. However, the amount of the line may be extended by an additional € 100M depending on the situation. In addition, the maximum amount that can be financed from the FIEM per operation is extended to € 10 million and the repayment period is made more flexible.

These changes are justified by the need to be able to meet the financing demands of SMEs for their export and investment operations, in a context of credit restriction, especially for this type of company.
