CIRCULAR CODE: 72/08
Andorra, officially the Principality of Andorra, is a small independent state of south-western Europe, located in the Pyrenees between Spain and France, limiting the autonomous community of Catalonia to the south, and the department of the Eastern Pyrenees to the north. Andorra is one of the smallest states in the world, with only 468 km and an estimated population of 72 thousand people.
For 715 years, from 1278 to 1993, the Andorran government was headed by a co-prince, governed by a Catalan head of state, the Bishop of Urgell and one of Occitan, the count of Foix, who, after the French revolution was inherited by the President of the Republic. Although the Andorran constitution has retained this system, the government has transformed itself into a parliamentary democracy and a constitutional co-prince. It is the only parliamentary co-sponsor of the world.
