The Royal Decree 1627/1997 of October 24 establishes the minimum Health and Safety provisions in the construction and facilities works, creating, among others, the figure of the coordinator in matters of Health and Safety during the project phase and of execution, with the aim of guaranteeing the health and safety of the workers.
This course is being programmed taking into account the recommendations of the National Health and Safety Commission and the Technical Guide for the assessment and prevention of relative risks in construction works? published by the National Institute of Safety and Hygiene at Work ?.
The objective of this course is that students acquire the basic knowledge to act as safety and health coordinators in construction works and who at the same time know and use the basic tools:

- BASIC CONCEPTS ON SAFETY AND HEALTH AT WORK. NORMATIVE FRAMEWORK (3 hours)
Work and health: professional risks. Damages derived from work. Working conditions, risk factors and preventive techniques. Statistics on occupational accidents. Regulatory framework in the field of occupational risk prevention. Rights and obligations in this matter.
- PREVENTION MANAGEMENT (1 hour)
General criteria. Specific criteria applied to the construction sector. Prevention in Spain. Organisms and entities.
- PLANNING OF PREVENTION IN CONSTRUCTION WORKS (3 hours)
Coordination functions during the preparation of the project and the execution of the work. Criteria for the elaboration of the basic study / study of health and safety. Criteria for the elaboration and approval of the health and safety plan at work.
- GENERAL TECHNIQUES OF ANALYSIS, EVALUATION AND RISK CONTROL (12 hours)
Risks and preventive measures related to the conditions of security in the construction works. General conditions of implementation. Specific risks in construction works. Phases of work. Preventive and protection measures. Specific risks in civil works. Typologies Preventive and protection measures. Specific technical regulations for application. Monitoring and control.
Risks and preventive measures related to the environment and work in construction works (industrial hygiene).
Other preventive aspects related to the construction works. Ergonomics Psychology.
Criteria for health surveillance. Organization of measures in the field of first aid, fire fighting and evacuation of workers.
- PROMOTION OF PREVENTION (1 hour)
Analysis and verification of training and information. Techniques of communication, motivation and negotiation.
