In what fields has the world of engineering developed?

In the world of mechanics and the automotive industry. My father had a car repair shop in Reus and at that time you had to study what you were told at home, not what you wanted. Eventually I ended up liking this profession and I took a liking to engineering.

I have been an expert for over thirty years, working for accident insurance. At that time, you didn't have to be an engineer to be an expert. With the dean of the College of Tarragona, Joan Garcia Marquès, we fought for the degree to be necessary. It was anecdotal to see how for a 2 horse van to open the windows a technical project would be needed and not for an expertise where knowledge of engineering was needed.

Apart from the world of engineering, how did you develop your passion for the engine?

He had collaborated in the world of motoring very amateur, as a practitioner. I have been since 1970 until 10 or 12 years ago as the official position of the Spanish Federation as a timekeeper, curator or test director.

I carried out this task practically in Reus, although it must be said that during the 70's and 80's we helped other motorcycle clubs in the province that were starting to race and needed official positions.

Has he developed this passion outside of Reus?

  Yes, in 1970 I took part in the Escorial International Six Days Trial, in 2000 I went to Granada. I also took part in the Sant Magí de Tarragona Grand Prix where I had gone to time, it was a test that was carried out inside the Laboral venue.

Always related to the engine, have you been able to disconnect?

The work I did as an engineer and my passion for racing are two very different things. I also have to say that I liked theater, music and reading and when I had to disconnect I was able to disconnect. Right now I’m following virtual lectures from the Reading Center.

When did you retire?

I haven’t exercised in about ten years, although lately I’m still doing something. I am known among lawyers who ask me for my opinion in the claims cases they have. I used to be an expert for companies and now I have done some expertise for a lawyer who goes against these companies. Experience in this field allows me to do it even though sometimes I have also said no.

What is the biggest change you have experienced in your job?

  The biggest change has been in information. Before you had to go after brands, prices and materials. Now you go online and find it. Many photos are now taken because they don’t have to be revealed.
