The Council of Ministers has approved the Royal Decree that regulates the integration of technical Vocational Training teachers into the body of Secondary Education teachers. The Government is thus responding to a historic demand that will serve to improve the working conditions of the teachers benefited by moving the official subgroup A2 to A1.
The approved text completes the process started with the Education Law (Organic Law 3/2020) which declares the extinction of the body of technical teachers of Vocational Training to integrate it into the secondary school, as long as it is in possession of a qualification university degree or equivalent for teaching purposes.
From now on, the competent regional administrations will be in charge of opening a public call for these teachers to apply for integration into the secondary school body. This will have effects on working conditions retroactively from January 19, 2021, the date of entry into force of the Education Law. For civil servants who meet the conditions established subsequently, they will be retroactive to the time when these requirements were given.
The Royal Decree also includes the possibility of applying for integration after the closing of this call. The demand for the recognition of this right can be made until January 19, 2026, thus leaving a period of time for those teachers who currently lack the necessary qualification to obtain it.
