Tarragona contributes 10% of the comments to the Catalonia 2006-2015 energy plan

The province of Tarragona has provided 10% of the 140 comments addressed to the Generalitat to assess the Energy Plan of Catalonia 2006-2015. Half make suggestions or support them and 23% question specific issues.

This past July, the period of public exposure began in May, so that citizens and institutions can evaluate the Energy Plan 2006-2015 of the Generalitat de Catalunya. During this process of public debate, 140 comments were submitted, of which 50% provided suggestions or support, 23% questioned specific aspects of the document, 16% requested the withdrawal of the plan and the rest, 11% made other types of unclassified valuations.

Of the total number of suggestions, 10% were provided by citizens and organizations in the province of Tarragona. The contribution of the province of Barcelona was 55%, that of Girona 12% and that of Lleida 4%.

The most frequently asked questions were about power lines with 57% followed by energy saving and efficiency with 38% and renewable energy with 35%. The rest of the assessments made in the plan, with more than 20%, referred to the combined cycles with almost 30%, the nuclear power plants with 25%, the wind energy with 25%, the Kyoto protocol with a 23% and distributed generation with 22%. Finally, questions were also asked about solar energy, technological research, biomass and peak oil, among others.

This Energy Plan sets out the objectives and lines of action in order to develop an energy policy for Catalonia with a horizon of 2015. It is committed to more savings, from 2.9% to 7.9% in energy renewable and for higher quality.
