THE FIRST ENERGY CONGRESS OF CATALONIA, COENERCAT, IS COMING

From November 25 to 29, 2013, the first edition of the Energy Congress of Catalonia will be held with sessions in the 4 provincial capitals, promoted from the Catalan civil society.

Mariano Marzo, Josep Enric Llebot, Salvador Samitier, Juan Alario, M. Teresa Costa, Joan Nogué, Xavier Flotats, Valeriano Ruiz, Javier García Breva, Luisa F. Cabeza, Joan Salvadó are just a few of the experts in the sector that will participate in CoEnerCat . In addition, there are also internationally renowned experts who will explain their experiences and provide their vision from outside, such as Paul Fleming, (Leicester, UK), Henrik Lund (Aalborg, Denmark) or Harry Lehman (Germany).

Energy has become one of the key issues of the current socio-economic and environmental model. In addition, Catalonia is in a historical moment in which new relationships between the territories arise. Therefore, it is crucial to know first hand what energy model we need and how we must act to reach it.

With more than 80 participants, between speakers, moderators, interviewers, reporters and session presidents, the Congress agglutinates and connects the agents of the sector (professionals, colleges and associations, professors, professors, people who participate or have participated in organs of Catalan, state or European governments ...) to give answers to these questions and to work together for a more sustainable energy model.

The purpose of the congress is to facilitate the achievement in Catalonia not only of the Energy Plan but also of the objectives of the Energy Roadmap 2050 of the European Union on dependence, intensity and energy efficiency, use of renewable sources and reduction of emissions of greenhouse gases.

CoEnerCat is organized by the Association of Energy of Catalonia

Resources, innovation and sustainability

The Energy Congress of Catalonia deals with energy in Catalonia conceived as a whole and in a general way to establish the foundations of the energy system and promote a more sustainable model.

Although the three basic pillars of the Congress are energy resources, sector innovation and the sustainability of the system, Congress will also talk about landscape, economy, social rights, urban planning, sustainable building, d emissions, and much more, all in relation to the energy system. For this reason, it has the presence of engineers (industrialists, agronomists, paths, telecommunications, chemists, forest), economists, physicists, geologists, environmentalologists, sociologists, philosophers, lawyers, politicians, architects, biologists ...

In each locality (Barcelona, Lleida, Tarragona, Girona) the most relevant topics of each zone will be discussed.

The Creative Tables, a new format for debate

In addition to expert reports, the Congress incorporates a new session format, called Creative Tables, in which a facilitator will interview people from different areas (administration, business, university) to find specific solutions to real problems.

The Creative Board of the Congress aims to provide knowledge and consensus on important energy issues that have not been dealt with so far in Catalonia, or with significant disagreements. Defend the orientation of other formats in which the confrontation between the speakers predominates.

Some of the Creative Tables of the Congress will deal with the energy transition, biofuels, power plants and nuclear waste, wind energy, energy degrowth, landscape and energy infrastructure, etc.
