INTERCOLLEGIAL CELEBRATES THAT THE SENATE URGES THE GOVERNMENT TO REACH CONSENSUS ON THE FUTURE LAW ON SERVICES AND PROFESSIONAL COLLEGES

The Intercollegial Association of Professional Associations of Catalonia welcomes the unanimous approval of the Senate Plenary on November 20 of a motion that urges the Government of the State to dialogue with The representatives of professional organizations to achieve a basic consensus in the future Law on professional services, in relation to the main issues that generate discrepancy (collaboration, self-regulation and interlocution) in order to guarantee the quality of the services provided to the public.

Since the approval of the Draft Law on professional colleges and services, the Intercollegiate Association has requested the opening of a sincere dialogue with the academic sector in the process of processing this law , from an approach to the reality of the collegial world.
For the Intercollegiate Association, the elimination of compulsory colleges in certain professions where it was until now, will mean eliminating deontological control and the best practices currently carried out by professional colleges. This situation will lead to an increase in intrusion and will leave the citizens unprotected by the lack of guarantees in the services, without any administration being in a position to assume this control.
The Intercollegiate Association submitted allegations to the Draft Law within the period of public hearing opened by the Ministry. In his writ of allegations, the Intercolegal of Catalonia also questions the interventionism and uniformity of the Preliminary Draft, to the detriment of the autonomy of the professional colleges and the competences of the autonomous communities , and in particular of the Generalitat de Catalunya, vindicating the importance of professional ethics and of having compulsory civil liability insurance for professionals to effectively protect the rights of the recipients of professional services.
The president of the Intercolectal and Dean of the Bar Association of Barcelona, Oriol Rusca, transferred the content of these allegations to the Minister of Economy and Competitiveness, Luis de Guindos, in the interview held on October 1st.
