From the Territorial Service of Civil Protection of the Generalitat de Catalunya in Tarragona, they inform us of the exercise of activation of the sirens of warning to the population in case of chemical risk.
As you know, Tarragona is home to a large number of industries in the chemical sector, despite being very safe industries, they inevitably involve a certain risk and, therefore, there is always a small probability of accident. Chemical risk accidents require a very fast and effective response, and to inform the population in the event of a chemical accident, a general network of alarms (sirens) has been installed in the risk areas so that the population can take self-protection measures.
What to do in case of siren activation? Self-protection measures must be taken, in case of chemical risk the main measure of self-protection is confinement. To familiarize the population with the sounds of grandparents, two siren activations are performed annually.
One of these activations will take place on April 13. You can find the sounds of the alarm start and end sirens on our website: www.gencat.cat/interior/riscquimic, where you will also find self-protection tips for chemical risk.
On the day of the siren test, you can also follow it via the twitter account of the General Directorate of Civil Protection: @emergenciescat.
